Below
are drawings and computer renderings of possibilities for the Beacon outdoor
sculpture garden. Mostly these are still in the developing idea
phase, with the ultimate materials and final designs still open.
SPINNING
LINCOLN
Abraham Lincoln, appearing to be rotated at an extremely high speed. I've
always enjoyed traditional public sculpture, and Mr. Lincoln has been
distorted by the abstraction of popular culture more than just about anyone.
Lincoln is 5 feet tall, and consists of 14 ceramic sections with central holes to allow them to be stacked on a steel pole. The sections would have 4 colors (black, white, "flesh" and brown), glazed to give the most plastic-like appearance possible. It needs to be constructed to withstand outdoor conditions.
DUCK
LATHE
A duck appearing to rotate at an extremely high speed.
The duck is 4 feet tall, and consists of 9 ceramic sections with central holes to allow them to be stacked on a steel pole. The sections would have 4 colors (black, white, yellow and orange), glazed to give the most plastic-like appearance possible. It needs to be constructed to withstand outdoor conditions.
